New This Month: Fresh Paintings From the Studio

FRESH ARTWORK, MADE BY HAND, IS HERE!!!

There’s a new mix of landscapes, a little fantasy, and a cheerful panda at Bee the Light Art Studio. These pieces come in a range of sizes, from a framed 20-by-16-inch painting to tiny art you can display on a desk or magnetic surface.

Each work has its own details, so we’ve gathered the basics here to make browsing easier. Take a look, find the piece that catches your eye, and follow its link for more information.

Hills and Valleys

Medium: Framed oil
Size: 20 × 16 inches
Price: $590

Snow-covered peaks rise above golden grasses, with warm light reflected in a narrow stream. Hills and Valleys brings a landscape view to the wall in a larger framed format. Its size makes it a good piece to consider when you’re looking for artwork to anchor a wall or bring color to a room.

Before choosing a spot, measure your available wall space and leave room around the frame. A simple paper outline taped to the wall can help you picture the scale before you decide.

Ohio Falls

Ohio Falls oil painting on a hexagonal canvas

Medium: Oil on hexagonal canvas
Size: 7 × 8 inches
Price: $105

A waterfall drops beneath a bridge into blue-green water, surrounded by dense green trees. The hexagonal canvas gives Ohio Falls an outline that’s a little different from a standard rectangle. At 7 by 8 inches, it can fit into a smaller display area or join a grouping of art on a shelf or wall.

The unusual shape is part of the piece, so consider giving it a little space of its own, or use it to add variety to a collection of framed pictures.

Riverbed Wonder

Riverbed Wonder framed oil painting

Medium: Framed oil
Size: 10 × 8 inches
Price: $155

Blue water winds around green banks beneath a broad blue sky. Riverbed Wonder is a framed landscape in a compact 10-by-8-inch size. It’s an easy format to consider for a smaller wall, a hallway, or a spot that needs a little artwork without a large footprint.

If you’re arranging several pieces together, compare their outer frame sizes and leave a consistent gap between them. A small collection can feel connected even when each painting has a different subject.

Moon Goddess

Moon Goddess framed acrylic painting

Medium: Framed acrylic
Size: 10 × 8 inches
Price: $130

A seated fairy rests on a golden crescent moon, with small stars and pink-and-gold leaves against a black background. Moon Goddess brings a touch of fantasy imagery to a framed 10-by-8-inch artwork.

Its compact dimensions can work well in a personal space, or alongside other small pieces. If you’re choosing between a landscape and a more imaginative subject, think about the mood you’d like the art to add to your room, and which one you’ll enjoy seeing every day.

Through the Looking Glass

Through the Looking Glass acrylic artwork

Medium: Acrylic
Size: 6 × 6 inches
Price: $65

At 6 by 6 inches, Through the Looking Glass is the smallest of the featured acrylic works. Its compact size makes it a practical option for a desk, a small shelf, or a spot where you want to display a single, small-scale piece.

Small artwork can also be part of a bigger arrangement. Try placing it with a few other pieces at different sizes, or keep it on its own where it can be seen up close.

Cheeky Panda and Mini Night Falls

Cheeky Panda acrylic magnet

Not every new piece needs a frame or a wall. Cheeky Panda is an acrylic magnet featuring a wide-eyed panda with pink ears and a little pink nose. It’s a small way to add a handmade detail to a magnetic display.

Mini Night Falls is a 2.5-by-2.5-inch acrylic mini canvas with a display stand. A white waterfall tumbles over a dark green ledge into textured water below. Its small footprint makes it easy to display on a desk, shelf, or other little open spot.

Choosing the right size and format

A few simple checks can help you narrow down your options:

  • Measure first. Note the wall or shelf space you have available. For framed artwork, leave room for the frame as well as the painting.
  • Think about viewing distance. A small piece is well suited to a spot where you’ll see it up close. A larger piece can be easier to appreciate from across a room.
  • Consider the format. A framed oil, an artwork on a hexagonal canvas, a small acrylic, and a magnet each suit different display spaces.
  • Choose what you like looking at. A subject or size that feels right to you is a good place to start.

Make art with what you have

We’re also inviting you to get in touch about a December 12 “Make Art With What You Have” class idea. The idea is a 6pm, all-ages session using supplies you already own, no special shopping list needed.

If you’d like to know more, or want to share what you’d enjoy making, get in touch with the studio. We’d be glad to hear what kind of class would suit you.

Art that gives back

Every piece is handmade at the studio, and every eligible sale donates 10% to support victims of domestic violence. Thank you for helping us make art accessible and support this important cause with your purchase.
